Why do we like this?

John Hopkins's newest album is a divine piece of electronic music. On par with the likes of fellow London-based producers Max Cooper and Four Tet, Hopkins spared no note for Immunity, released earlier this month.

"Open Eye Signal" is a single off the Hopkins' fourth LP, starting with a slowly rolling crescendo. The synths are wicked, beats propelling, and overall composition is plain intelligent design. The supernatural, almost spiritual vocal bits are brilliantly juxtaposed against the harsh nature of the melody tsunami just below. And that dense build into the cleaned up ending? I can't put any words down to do its exquisite execution any ounce of justice.
