Why do we like this?

I've wanted to hype this Johnny Astro track since the Texas whiz kid first sent it my way nearly a year ago. I've got a lot of respect for Johnny's work ethic. Always one to set the bar high, Astro's abilities behind the boards and in the booth continue to improve with each release.

During its seven minute runtime, Johnny and Marcoto Slim pay homage to soul singer Darondo and his 1973 hit "Didn't I" in a way that elevates "I Try/High" above its proverbial peers. It's essentially two tracks for the price of one, and better than a lot of what I've heard on the radio, SoundCloud, Youtube, and elsewhere this year.

Life may try to blow our high, but Johnny Astro always come through with a fresh joint.
