Why do we like this?
Yes, there's Abel Tessfaye, aka The Weekend, Frank Ocean, Drake, etc., who are topping the R&B charts, but Londoner Joel Compass has been stealing copious amounts of my attention in the R&B department this year. If you've heard his music then you'll understand why.
A few months ago, we featured his first track "Fucked Up" from his Astronaut EP, which had a robust hook and infectious vocals. Now, Pusha T has teamed up with Joel Compass on his emotionally charged track "Run" to add some fresh flows to the mix. This collaboration should put Joel Compass on the map for good.
The Astronaut EP is currently out on Black Butter Records. Be sure to check out my other favorite track from the EP, called "Astronaut."
