Beck made a name for himself a couple decades ago, but he still keeps pretty relevant by releasing quality original content and remixes. For example, he's tackled artists like Feist and Lykki Li -- both well-respected modern singers (who happen to fall squarely in the female vocalist realm).
In light of that, it's interesting to see him entertain the hip-hop styling of JJ Doom. His touch certainly brings a whole new element to the game.
Doom became one of my favorite hip-hop artists when I discovered him as part of the collaborative duo Danger Doom (I still have their album 2005 The Mouse and the Mask on frequent rotation). Admittedly, I haven't listened to much of his work with Jneiro Jarel as JJ Doom (they released an album in 2012 titled Key to the Kuffs), but Beck's envisioning of this track just might pique my interest enough to do so.
If you find yourself enjoying this, be sure to catch the upcoming re-issue of his album titled Butter Version via Lex Projects.
