Why do we like this?
I recently went to visit the beautiful city of Cape Town. I was collected by four friends who drove me all around while playing chillwave and teaching me philosophies that went way over my head. It was a wonderful time and felt like a real (as far as anything can be) introduction to chillwave.
As a new arrival to the genre, what struck me was how every song had a Phill Collins' "In The Air Tonight" feel to it. Jimmy Smash's "Under" is no different — it has that retro feel but at the same time, the band has definitely given it a modern twist.
Speaking to the track, the Norwegian duo had this to say:
With this song we want to push the boundaries and explore what Jimmy Smash is, both musically and lyrically. This song is for those of us who make music only for our own pleasure without thinking so much about the outcome, and then it is also extra fun for us to invite more people to the fun in the process."
I hope this blog post is a part of their extra fun, just as "Under" was a part of mine.
