Why do we like this?

Chords carry a great deal of emotional expression, and, when used effectively, are capable of communicating tone much better than lyrics, notes, or beats.

Looking through his discography, it’s obvious this is something L.A. producer, Jim-E Stack, knows well. His latest single, “Moments Noticed,” from his upcoming EP, It’s Jim-ee, utilizes major chords to tell the story of a bittersweet end to a long-term relationship. Jim-E also gets help from Charli XCX and Rostam, who provide additional vocals and production, respectively.

From his career beginnings on the East Coast with a reputation as a club DJ, Jim-E Stack’s recent move to L.A. has connected him with prominent producers such as Ariel Rechtshaid and Rostam, moving his sound more towards refined electronics and clarity. What hasn’t changed is a natural ear for musical storytelling. As Jim-E grows as an artist, he will remain one to watch.
