Ahhh...did that wave of warmth swim up your spine as soon as the vocals kicked in? Welcome to an intimate evening with Jessie Ware -- one that you can replay over and over again.
This version of "Night Light" by Perseus is easily my favorite among the reworks. I am a huge fan of the producer. He manages to subtly defy being typecast; there's no unnecessary embellishment justifying his singularity. How does one manage to make tropical nu disco house sound so sensual, so soulful, so easy?
Perseus does less and more at the same time, the equivalent of a modernist designer -- authentically adding value where there is nothing physical to support it. He's a magician, leaving us at secluded beach, admiring a full moon, as the oceans soothes the senses without interrupting. The continuous placement of the perfect electronic note in its necessary place, elevates reality, to a point where it feels we're solely recalling a divine musical memory.
