Sounds like:
Junior Boys,
Rhye,
xxyyxx
Why do we like this?
Count on Jensen Sportag to release a new track with synthy seduction pulsing through its every measure.
Listeners were hooked (and ready to hook up) after their 2011 EP, Pure Wet, which left little to interpretation but still felt provocatively inviting. We've been left hanging for a long time, but this fall will mark the release of their first full album out on Cascine (untitled as far as I know).
"Bellz" perpetuates their lust for urbane, sensuous storytelling, but there are moments that feel almost spooky (I'm into it). This is still signature Jensen Sportag though, and it's interesting that this is music with a goal that so many artists attempt, but often fail at pulling off. It's a delicate balance of not taking yourself too seriously (the title, for example) but then delivering music that has some serious value.
Listen, and prepare yourself for even more temptation come fall.
