Why do we like this?
Released almost a decade ago, Jay Z's "99 Problems" has become one of his most iconic tracks, originally produced with Rick Rubin. It lyrically tackled the social issue of racial profiling and struck a chord. Since then, it has been listed on numerous top lists as far as hip-hop songs go, has been awarded countless times, and appeared in a handful of films and video game soundtracks. Of course, it has also been remixed over and over.
This time around, the song gets another refresh from London's talented producer Benji Boko. The original was a crash of genres blended by Rick Rubin. Benji Boko follows, but with his own style and flavor. Keeping the strong guitar strum intact, he also fuses a lot of blues and a Southern sounds into his remix. It's a refreshing take on the now classic rap song.
The remix will be appearing on Benji Boko's album Remixes Vol. 2 out on October 7, 2013.
