Why do we like this?
Part Conor Oberst part Zachary Francis Condon, Jared Bartman is a new American indie folk artist from Princeton, IL whose music weaves lush orchestral arrangements to percussion-driven large ensemble.
Sort of like the nouveau Bright Eyes of the Midwest, his full-length retains all the angst and energy of that young American folk sound minus the pretentiousness. Lots of nice upbeat tracks, I'm particularly loving the a capella "The Cool of Your Temple" along with the big band sounding "You've Been Drinking Again."
Jared's full-length, titled Misery Makes Strange Bedfellows, will release mp3s via Amazon on November 19. Until then, you can stream the entire album via PR company Crash Avenue's SoundCloud .
