It's hard not to be biased when covering Japanese Wallpaper: the young artist happens to be a Staff Writer for Indie Shuffle, so I'll do my best not to unjustly praise his graces.
If I'm not mistaken, "Between Friends" is the Australian musician's first single since being featured in Zach Braff's crowd-funded movie Wish I Was Here. Naturally, finding a place in such a high-profile soundtrack is going to draw a lot of attention, and with it expectations for continued success.
Fortunately this collaboration with Jesse Davidson -- mixed at Triple J studios in Sydney -- fully lives up to expectations, capturing a beautiful, ambient / dream pop sound not unlike prior releases. Clearly young Gab Strum's got a solid music career ahead of him.
