Why do we like this?

Japanese Gum. Maybe it's gum that comes in some crazy Japanese flavors, like miso and green tea. Could be gum that comes in some crazy space-aged, futuristic packaging. Or it's a three-piece experimental electronic outfit from Italy.

Spending the last year opening for bands like Teen Daze and having their tracks remixed by the likes of Sun Glitters, Japanese Gum are definitely a group that look to expand musical boundaries. Not content with the current state of music, they look to take their own brand of tripped-out, electronic psychedelia to the masses with the release of their album High Dreams on December 2.

The lead track, "Homesick,"is like an underwater voyage in a submarine, with Nag Champa burning and Willy Wonka at the helm. Filled with glitchy synthesizers, tribal drums, and drowning vocals that pulsate over a droning beat, the track begs the listener to lose themselves in the music. There are definitely some elements of Animal Collective's Campfire Songs thrown in, along with some delayed guitar shoegaze aesthetic, which comes together for a very interesting listen.

You can check out some of Japanese Gum's remixes care of their Bandcamp. As for some actual Japanese gum, well, I can't help you there.
