Having debuted his fantastical reimagining of Oscar Key Sung's "Holograms" a year ago, I've kept an eye on the work of Melbourne musician Jamil Zacharia.
An artist that has mostly kept to the shadows, he has featured on a number of tracks from fellow Melbourne artists (Willow Beats, Silent Jay, Kirkis), and now looks to forge a name for himself with the release of new material.
"Ode 2 Summa" is a track destined for your next chillout playlist, but it's by no means mindless. Intriguing soundscapes are looped back on themselves, with misty vocal arrangements giving this track an almost meditative feel. The track is perfectly balanced between live instrumentation and electronic beats, and my only gripe with it is that when it finishes I find myself wanting it to go on for longer.
This is the latest single off Zacharia's upcoming seven-track EP, which is due out on his own label (Wabi Sabi Record) next month.
