Why do we like this?
Los Angeles' James Supercave arrives with their debut EP, The Afternoon, on March 25. The first single from the art rocker's much-heralded release, "Old Robot" features lead singer Joaquin Pastor crooning over calypso-inspired grooves.
Alongside Pastor, James Supercave includes Patrick Logothetti (synths, keyboards), Andres Villaobos (guitar, backing vocals), and Jaysun Rickards (bass).
Originally titled Natural Born Winner, the band enlisted The Black Key's live bassist Gus Seyffert to produce the EP, and former Beck and Thom Yorke drummer Joey Waronker helped with percussion.
With a March residency at L.A.'s Echo beginning tonight, a round at SXSW, and dates planned with Warpaint in April, expect to hear much more from James Supercave in the coming weeks.
