Golden Vessel's "I Need A Drone Bomb" is a combination of many things. Part remix and part mashup, it's a tasteful and tranquil reimagining of two of the producer's top tracks of 2016.
It's an intimidating task mixing two songs that stand so strongly on their own while doing both justice. This combination of James Blake and Bon Iver's "I Need A Forest Fire" is interlaced with Anohni's "Drone Bomb Me" in a way that feels seamless and doesn't allow one to detract from the other.
The highlight of the track is the combination of silky voices. Anohni's vocal wavers atop Justin Vernon's cottony coos and the rhythmically ambiguous sample from "I Need A Forest Fire." The production is minimal, allowing the sounds to swirl into one another organically.
Substantially more docile than the title suggests, this mashup is undoubtedly worthy of your next solitude mix.
