Why do we like this?

It's such a satisfying sound when a musician's vision, composition, and vocals match up just right. And for Newcastle singer-songwriter Jake Houlsby, the stars have aligned. 

Off his upcoming Vondelpark EP, out on May 5th, Houlsby is as careful with his lyrics as he is the picking of the strings on his guitar. The subdued combination leads to a clarity communicated straight from his mind to your ears. 

It's the perfect season for some indie folk, as the gray skies part into spring. Or as Houlsby says: "This is the calm before the storm / This is the sea between the isles."
