I instantly fell in love with Jake Bugg's self-titled debut. Sounding like a cross between Bob Dylan and Miles Kane, Bugg's acoustic meanderings about UK life instantly connected with my passion for the country. (I spent three years there and loved every minute.)
Now readying the release of this third album, On My One, Bugg's second single from the record is somewhat unexpected. "Gimme The Love" abandons his previous sound in favor of synth lead guitar rock. It reminds me of when Brit-rockers The Music traded their classic rock sound for indie-synth. They soon parted ways after that mistake.
Personally, I like "Gimme The Love." It shows Bugg has layers to his sound and isn't afraid to make music that might alienate his fan base. I just hope the whole album does't sound like this.
