As you are most probably aware, a collection of tracks posing to be Jai Paul's debut album recently surfaced online. While most of that has now been cleared, we were left with some remnants which I guess you'd have to consider demos.
One such track is "Zion Wolf," and for the most part, it sounds exactly like what we'd hoped from the album, finding the invisible strings that link the glitchy electronica of Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke with the sensual soul of Prince or D'Angelo. The closest comparison we can make is Frank Ocean, but really Jai is doing entirely his own thing, and that's part of the reason this is so good.
Although the random release wasn't exactly out of character, we'll keep our ears to the ground for something more official coming out, but this is enough to tide us over for now.
