Why do we like this?
It has to be said: this one was a LONG time coming. It was around this time last year that the original, demo version of BTSTU leaked out onto the Internet and into the wider world. Everyone was blown away by the leak, and since then, everyone has been waiting for more.
I have to admit, I was getting to the stage of giving up on Jai Paul. Extensive searching yielded no result, the tunes had been removed from his MySpace, and he seemed to have disappeared. This was a real shame, and if you listen to this edited version of BTSTU (apparently about Gabriel Batistuta), you'll find it easy to see why.
This is completely unique - no where else can you find a beautiful harmony like this juxtaposed against that throbbing bass that, for me at least, makes this song. And believe me on that one, because I've really really tried to find something similar. The closest I came was Hudson Mohawke, an entirely different kettle of fish.
So here's to Jai Paul's triumphant return -- even if the edit is slightly worse. I'm just thankful for an excuse to post it! Now we just have to wait for the album, sure to be one of this year's best!
