A friend recently said something to me about this band that really stuck. She said, "I'm excited about Jagwar Ma in the same way that I was excited about Yeasayer a few years ago."
Maybe it resonated with me so much because I love Yeasayer. The first time I heard Jagwar Ma was a remix of "Come Save Me" by Flight Facilities. I thought the remix was so catchy, but before hearing the Aussie dudes' original sound, I thought they were just another poppy indie band.
I could not be more wrong.
I'm so excited for their live show because only then will I have a chance to experience that which moves me sonically, in real life. I can only imagine that the energy of their live show will be seizure inducing -- internally, maybe. They've mastered the "wall of sound" which is something I've grown particularly fond of -- the build-up with no drop. Just a continuous build. Their sound drips like acid rain that you want to dance in, and permeates the soul with the fervor of a swarm of non-harmful bees.
Their sound gives me a real, tactile reaction, one you can touch and feel. From what I've gathered, their live show is the true embodiment of this idea.
