What better album to close the summer with than Jacuzzi Boys Glazin'? It's set to drop on August 29, and you can bet we're excited. Hailing from Miami, Jacuzzi Boys will be embarking on a U.S. fall tour to promote their second album. I really couldn't tell if these guys were for real when I first heard their name, but then I heard a few of their songs
-- yup, they put me in my place.
Glazin' is a quintessential 60s beach rock anthem. Simple, tight, slightly heavy, and little bit sweet. This album radiates sunny vibes, carefree lyrics ("Sugar in my hair/Melting everywhere in the sunshine") and perfectly popped out melodies. The drums are loud and hold their own, the electric guitar projecting a simplified DIY garage rock theme, and the bass brings a low-key, funkified feel.
Jacuzzi Boys don't stray far from this particular garage pop psychedelia genre, but it sounds as though they have a clear understanding of this specific genre. Their execution is classic.
I'd imagine that Jacuzzi Boys have a highly energetic live show judging from this album. It's upbeat, uninhibited vibe almost guarantees a fun-filled experience. Jacuzzi Boys' goal with Glazin:
"[We] hope people get butterflies, goose bumps, shivers, and one big smile!" says Singer-guitarist Gabriel Alcala. - Spin.com
