Why do we like this?
I wouldn't normally say something is missing from a Jacques Greene & Koreless track, especially one as powerful as "Arrow," but after hearing Szjerdene's vocals and lyrics woven through, I've been persuaded.
The British singer-songwriter emerges soulfully from the background as if we're finally attuned to what was invisibly, intuitively said by the music. She sings, "I was such a dreamer/Whatever happened to me/Followed all the arrows/Child of the silence/Sounds go undetected/But really what do we know/Followed all the arrows/To lead to you."
The track is available as a free download on Szjerdene's website, in anticipation of the re-release of Patchwork The EP. According to her Facebook, each song on the four-track album will highlight a different aspect of her musical personality, from her songwriting and arranging abilities to her "unique mix of soul and folk inflected vocals combined with electronic leftfield sounds and folk-inspired melodies."
