Heavy bass? Check. Lots of high hats? Check. Slightly annoying high-pitched voices? Check.
My roommate Anthony and I came up with a theory that all good songs nowadays seem to just repeat the track name over and over again (think: Rusko's "Everyday" or Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" -- yes I went there). Jacques Greene's "(Baby I Don't Know) What You Want" fits the bill perfectly.
The song is 6:05 minutes of pure delicious repetition, the same kind of joy you used to get as a kid when you'd spin around so much that you'd fall to the ground dizzy, but then still want to do it all over again.
This track was released a year ago and it's still addicting to listen to. This Montreal-based producer likes to blend together gloom and ecstasy in order to astound his listeners - just take in the weird dichotomy of the happy-esque beats with the repetitive lyrics "so sad" by digesting this a few times in a row.
Head over to YouTube to watch the
music video (where he interestingly pairs this song with clips from Kubrick's
2001: A Space Odyssey), follow his
SoundCloud, and be sure to check out his first release "The Look," along with "Night Slugs."
