If you've ever uprooted yourself from somewhere you consider home, it's quite likely you have days in which you pine for the comfort of the familiar. You may miss the people, the solitude of a small cafe, or the view from a specific cliffside in San Diego (I'm looking at you, Sunset Cliffs). On "Steal Away," Jackson Dyer attempts to capture that feeling.
The Australian artist transplanted himself in Berlin about three years ago, and has been touring throughout Europe and polishing his songwriting skills ever since. In a life of constant motion, his track finds him in a moment of stillness and reflection.
One SoundCloud comment on the track reads "massive yet soft" which I think is strikingly accurate. "Steal Away" simplifies the desire for peace and connection in a foreign place. It's a soothing alt-indie track that pensively searches for a tranquil moment among chaos.
"I've been yearning for a quiet place" Dyer sings, complemented by dreamy guitars and spacious production. With poetic, folk influenced songwriting and soul soaked vocals, it's a beautiful track to get lost in.
