Why do we like this?
A more emotional remix by Hudson Mohawke, the Scottish half of TNGHT.
His new remix of Jackson and His Computerband's standout track, "Vista," features gleaming opening pianos and a deep vocal mix accompanied by a throbbing, big-room kick drum pattern.
Hudson Mohawke stays true to his usual boom-bap while lending a deeper side to listeners. The remix is made up of four main, lengthy build-ups, which make it uplifting and quite special to listen to. While parts of the track make you feel like you're involved in a somewhat ghetto rom-com, the way that Hudmo uses the synths from the original "Vista" bears an interesting similarity to sounds employed in many progressive trance tunes.
I can't say I expected anything less from Hudson Mohawke. It's encouraging to hear musicians at the top of their game maintaining a consistency in their sound while at the same time really pushing boundaries.
