Sydney artist Jack Grace is an interesting breed of musician who really delves into the mystery and intrigue of songwriting and structure. In a world where pop tracks are replicated again and again, musicians like this should be celebrated -- so here goes.
Having worked on his song-craft for a number of years, Grace's debut EP is due out shortly, with its first single "Hills" making the rounds earlier this week. The track operates on an interesting looped format, with different samples and elements added in. Vocally it's creative, with Grace's own, distorted voice teaming nicely with a sweet, melodic female vocal. Its got that effect on the listener that leaves you powerless not to melt into the undulating waves of Grace's soundscape, while still maintaining a clear pop feel to it.
I have had a listen to the Jack Grace EP as well as the single, and I can tell you it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for.
