While we'd normally associate "white label" with rare and limited music, L.A.'s Soulection label takes a very different approach, offering all their white labels as free downloads.
They're now through their tenth of the series, this time coming from Californian producer J-Louis. Making his debut on Indie Shuffle, he most reminds us of recent favorite Kaytranada, showing a similar style on "Can't You See'," which helps to join the dots between house, hip-hop, and boogie.
He's even reached for one of Kaytranada's favorite vocalists, Teedra Moses, for a sample. Obviously a slew of copycats is something nobody wants to see, but J-Louis is adding enough of his own twist -- and producing at a high enough standard -- that it doesn't simply sound like a rehash of someone else's ideas. Instead, he carries them forward and develops them with his own twist.
It's certainly worth keeping your eyes on J-Louis' SoundCloud for more, while head to Soulection's SoundCloud for the free download of this one.
