Today we premiere the brand new single from Brooklyn-based alt-soul/R&B IYVES.
“Let The Water Run” is a dense, mesmerizing track, with murky, electronic undercurrents and thunderous rhythms that all come together to create a rather emotional tapestry of sound.
Taken from the singer’s upcoming debut EP, the track is a grower -- listen to it a few times and you'll be sure to sink into its fluid depths without resistance. The vocals on this track are sultry, yet haunting, and layer upon layer of static, yet gurgling sound, converge to strike a rather dangerous chord.
Chatting to Indie Shuffle, IYVES explains her thinking behind the track and why it’s such a pivotal song in her collection:
“Let The Water Run” was written in a really transitional period in my life. It came from a place of wanting to step forward rather than back. To utilize this time for change, for progress and evolution. It's an anthem to shed all exterior weight that is pulling you down and to be your best, most authentic self.”
IYVES appeared on the scene last year with her beautiful debut single “Out Of Touch,” and seems to be releasing consistently great, relatable tracks which don't just adhere to the boring old formula.
