I kind of wonder what they've been up to. After a single and EP in 2014, It Looks Sad. released a double sided single, Kaiju, almost two years ago. Since then it's been a sorrowful silence.
The tamer side of Kaiju, Nagoya, is a wailing, guitar heavy piece with a dense atmosphere. With a gripping introduction from some lovely guitar chords and a spacious drumset, the lyrics edge in dripping with melancholy. The chorus comes through like a wave, as though to flush out the sadness, and ends leaving an aching space for the next verse. It's a song with an interesting energy, and I'd love to hear if there is more in the future from It Looks Sad.
ps. Don't forget your coat.
