Brooklyn art-pop outfit Iris Lune has dropped the title track of their forthcoming sophomore EP. The song's got a kind of fluid dreamscape-quality to it...which makes sense given "Lost In Chatter" was inspired by the final chapter of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland. (So, you might say... we are through the looking glass here, people.)
"It's hard to wake up when you're half asleep," sings frontwoman Ella Joy Meir in the opening moments, underscoring the tune's funky mysticism. But ultimately, the song is laced in social commentary – in an era of incessant social media, toxic news-cycles, the ever-present presence of technology, Iris Lune has one message: “Lost in Chatter, in all that doesn’t matter.”
So it's a swoon that makes you think. And like the aforementioned Alice in Wonderland, the deeper you go, the more layers are revealed.
Full EP is out 11/28 via Kobalt/AWAL.
