For those of us who are not vehemently opposed to music in the vein of Maxwell but think someone like The Weeknd takes things a bit too overboard, IO seems to strike a good balance.

"I/O is the music project of Ayo Olatunji, a solo artist whose R&B-informed sound sticks its toes into the static of Weeknd-like musical textures, but a sound free of that artist's narcissism and nihilism. "I Wasted My Time," a single from I/O's imminent Isolated mixtape, shows off an attractive warmth, and for all of its subtlety and laid-back atmosphere, "I Wasted My Time" signals a bright arrival for Olatunji."
