My obsession with Nordic acts continues with the release of Ida Wenøe's (pronounced EE-da ven-O) haunting yet compelling "Lyla."
The gothic-folk ballad is reminiscent of early British folk, with Wenøe's distinct vocals swirling above the acoustic finger picking guitar work. The haunting chorus of "Lyla, Lyla, do you know where you're going too?" hints at feelings of loneliness and apprehension, with Wenøe's breathy, intimate vocals drawing you into her noir-folk world.
This is a spectacular first offering, and if "Lyla" is anything to go by, Time Of Ghosts is shaping up as a must hear album.
Time Of Ghosts is set for release April 7.
