I Don't Speak French comes from Sweden and they've hit us all with this groovy track titled, "The Mule."
The warmth on the mixes and the retro synths make this one feel as if you could hear it on HBO's cancelled show Vinyl. The era that was portrayed there was perfect for this, and IDSF captures it all too well.
Non-stop groove, funky sounds and a rock-star performance on the vocal makes this one easy to dance to and like. The lo-fi vocals provide a killer balance for all the other rock & roll elements happening around them without clashing. I love when mix engineers get it.
Even though I would have preferred a little more umph on the percussion, I love what they did with it towards the end for a smooth finale.
Funky, moving and absolutely intriguing, this tune will have you checking out for more of their work, for sure.
