Why do we like this?
The days are getting longer, it's feeling warmer, and I spotted the first dubious shorts and sandals combination of the year. Yes, summer is coming. The briefest glimmer of sunshine in Britain last week has already got me planning my summertime fiestas and searching for tunes to soundtrack said fiestas. Huskies' new track, "Whatever Together," fits the bill perfectly.
The Nottingham-based quartet blend lazy surf rock-inspired guitar riffs with laid-back drums on a track reminiscent of 90s alt-rockers The Cure. "Whatever Together" is three minutes of warm and comforting pop rock, which will have you dreaming of idle days on sunny beaches.
This isn't boundary pushing music, but why need it be? Summer is just around the corner, and when music makes you feel this good, you've just got to roll with it, dude. Surf's up.
