Why do we like this?
How To Dress Well could probably undress anyone with his vocal skills -- woman, man, furniture, whatever. He's managed to multiply that sensuality of early 90s R&B.
On Tom Krell's original "& It Was U," off his sophomore debut Total Loss, bare bones electronic pop showcases his sultry voice. As much as I appreciate the original, I've got this remix of Vancouver's Elite Gymnastics on replay. It takes off, wasting no time developing rhythm and groove. After workin' up a sweat, the tempo drops and we're left with unexpectedly satisfying chill hop.
James Brooks calls Elite Gymnastics his art project. My personal opinion is that this remix is definitely more than an art project. I guess he can call it whatever he wants, he just needs to do more of it. Get in touch on Facebook and ask him to release another piece of art soon.
