Sounds like:
Danny Brown,
J Dilla,
Guilty Simpson
Why do we like this?
DJ House Shoes spent damn near two decades flying the flag of Detroit hip hop, and he just now has released his debut album. Let It Go is a collection that captures the beautiful, ugly, harsh and sweet aspects of a life devoted to music. There are cuts that sound like music to brawl to, but other tracks are contemplative -- and everything song is representative of the type of music Shoes has been a bastion for.
His collaboration with Danny Brown is the culmination of a relationship that dates back to before Brown's Hot Soup in 2008. "Sweet" is a blistering track that finds Danny rapping especially psychotic over ominous keys and stuttering drums. Rap's favorite weirdo compares his gun to an ejaculating penis and smokes blunts with his baby momma's new baby daddy.
House Shoes' Let It Go is in stores and online now, don't sleep!
