As the summer edges to a close, we can look forward to the renewal offered by fall's crispness. Hopium's "Dreamers" fits nicely into this seasonal segue.
"You said this would be your year" is the haunting declaration recycled and distorted in "Dreamers." The song bounds forward, punctuated only by a brief fulmination against "one of the dreamers." The song sounds so relaxing, it's hard to invest in any lyrical drama.
However, these anxieties around "dreaming" and "doing" converge without much closure, and we're left wondering what will happen the next time around.
Of note: Jamie Kuse's re-edit punches up the originally lilting ballad to great effect. His accelerated synths will push you forward even as you dream.
