Leed's five-piece Hookworms are the latest UK act obsessed with playing fast, psychedelic rock and roll. Respected British musician, author, and music commentator Julian Cope even described the band's latest record,
Pearl Mystic, as
"Shoegazing Skynryd," which is an intriguing compliment.
"Radio Tokyo" is Hookworms latest mind-altering tune, highlighted by scuzzy guitars, booming reverb and the ridiculously underused pipe organ. Frontman MJ's exuberant yelps are frantic, like he's trying to keep up with his Door's like keyboard playing, while his band mates provide able support with their swirling guitar work and rolling drum fills.
