Hoodlem is an anonymous new act from the electronic breeding grounds of Melbourne, another impressive addition to the already booming local community. As I write this review, Hoodlem is sitting on just 29 Facebook followers, so you can be sure that the project is fresh! She's just kicked things off with the release of her first single, "Through," and we're really enjoying it.
Superbly crafted, this is a track which makes me think the brains behind Hoodlem may have been around music for quite some time. Staggered beats and smooth R&B-slanted keys surround the soulful, somewhat playful vocals of this mysterious talent.
Hoodlem's first offering is an infectious track which I hope is followed by more music in the near future. Typically a male dominated genre, it's always refreshing to find female artists like this popping up around Australia.
