Why do we like this?
Have you ever heard of the genre "alien love-pop" before? No?! Yeah, no one has. That is, no one until John Dragonetti, one-half of indie rock band The Submarines, began working on material for the band's new album.
Some of the material was a little too goofy to make the cut, but instead of throwing it out, John set it aside for a new project that ultimately became HONG HONG KONG KONG.
Premiering here on Indie Shuffle, "Heidi's Moon Stomp" is the debut single by HONG HONG KONG KONG, and we're pretty sure it's capable of grabbing the attention of every alien and human out there. The track is full of poppy synths, smacks, and claps that will abduct your ears -- in a good way. I must say, it took a few listens to actually process the track, but eventually the song really grew on me.
Real quick: Imagine if you watched a movie about a zebra doing a cheetah doggie-style, which then lays an egg that hatches a boy (Dragonetti?) who then falls in love with an androgynous alien. Did I mention that the zebra and cheetah eat each other afterwards? That's totally imaginable right?
You might need to reread that last paragraph. Or, you could just wait for the acid-laced music video, which drops soon. I've seen it, and it's a totally mind f#$k.
Stay tuned with HONG HONG KONG KONG's extra terrestrial madness and music videos on one or all of his following social media outlets: Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, or Instagram.
