Why do we like this?
Holograms is a five-piece Swedish punk band riding the momentum of their debut LP with this honest and spirituous follow-up. "Meditations" is the second single off their sophomore full-length record Forever, and it's bursting with raw punk energy, smoothed over with catchy hooks and a subdued voice that's a perfect mix between The Sex Pistols and Surfer Blood.
The record begins with frontman Andreas Lagerström crooning over a frenetic drumbeat and urgent guitar riffs, eventually giving way to an ethereal surf rock guitar solo during the breakdown. This track is exactly what you need to wake you up after a long day staring at the screen. It's kind of like the jolting knee to the back depicted on the album's artwork: hard-hitting and majestic, all at once.
