Hitimpulse aren't a name I'm familiar with but the Berlin-based quartet of composers, producers and songwriters have been slowly making a name for themselves collaborating with the likes of Kygo, Craig David, Ellie Goulding, Alma and Steve Aoki. "Cover Girls" marks the collective's latest original release and features the vocals of talented singer songwriter, Bib Bourelly.
I have to admit that it was Bourelly's name that initially attracted me to this track. The 23-year-old is a brilliant writer with a wonderful voice and her rise to stardom is almost complete with latest project, Boy (In Studio), a must listen. Possessing a passionate voice, Bourelly delivers the relenting hook, "boys only love cover girls," with a soft, almost defeated voice shrouded in vulnerability and emotion.
Credit must also go to Hitimpulse who have constructed a hypnotic hip-hop influenced beat that pairs well with Bourelly's alluring voice, but for me, it's Bourelly that's the star of the show.
