After dropping a few subtle, vague hints, Hippo Campus has released a new EP this Tuesday, September 12th. warm glow is their third EP and their second major release in 2017, following the release of their first full-length album, Landmark, this February.
warm glow evokes definite echoes of Landmark, making it somewhat of a mini-sequel to the album. The first two tracks, “baseball” and “traveler,” come from a similar bright and upbeat vein. This sun-drenched vein is reminiscent of Landmark tracks “Simple Season” and “Vines” and even “Little Grace” from their first EP. These sunshine-infused songs bring nostalgia for carefree mornings and long summer road-trips. While “baseball” and “traveler” are more like morning, “warm glow” is the sunset of this EP. The final and title track, “warm glow,” is aptly named as it elicits feelings of the approaching autumn. This track is the perfect transition from Hippo Campus’s familiar summer and sunshine vibe into the mellow rhythm and step of fall.
Hippo Campus is currently about to embark on the European leg of their tour, before returning the United States for their winter tour. This tour will conclude in February 2018 in their hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota.
