Why do we like this?
Perhaps Hibou has picked a safe genre here, because this brand of surf/indie-rock always tends to win me over.
The artist in question is former Craft Spells drummer Peter Michel. Some people are calling it "dreamy post-punk," though the "punk" moniker would probably mislead the average listener.
"Dissolve" is plain smooth, setting an easy-going chilled out vibe that screams waves. It builds up for more than three minutes, lulling the listener into a relaxed state. And in doing so, manages to drop a bombshell at the 3:20 mark.
Pretty cool stuff.
