Why do we like this?
They're psychedelic, they're energetic, they're Here We Go Magic... and they're breaking the mold. This band has developed a style and presence that is unmistakable. This five-piece hails from Brooklyn and have been around for a few years now, but it's obvious that they're momentum is at full speed, releasing an album or EP every year for the past three years -- please keep them coming!
The January EP has six tracks and wastes no time delving into what seems like an other-worldly dimension of catchy beats, intricate guitar patterns, trance-like synth, and drawn out, swirling harmonies. Luke Temple, who sings lead, has the ability to hypnotize his audience with his haunting yet quivering, convicting voice. It's unique, and you'll probably find yourself wanting more once you get a taste.
No two songs on this EP sound the same. Here We Go Magic are experimenting and expanding, and they aren't afraid to shift and reshape their direction to form more and more eccentric songs. That's what I love about them.
It's so refreshing to discover such a fresh band with a large inventive capacity. I hope Here We Go Magic sticks around; I can see their archetype creations standing the test of time. With that said, take the time to give The January EP a chance, and I hope your mind turns to mush by the end.
