Brooklyn's Haybaby has slowly been crafting their brand of weird, eccentric, odd, and loud punk the last few years. The friendship between Leslie Hong, Zach Ellis, and Sam Yield really led the three to develop an organic sound. And with the advent of their upcoming
SUPERPRESENT EP, they've unveiled a brand new track titled "Pretty Hair" that represents this birth.
Vocally led by Leslie Hong, the song slowly looms into Breeders punk territory with its crashing guitars, percussion, and bass. Lyrically, it's simple enough to connect with any listener. Hong dwells on adolescent praise of that "prettier girl."
Although the song doesn't go into hyper mode as some of their past tracks have done, the rawness displayed on the new track is a refreshing comparison to the overly thought-out noise that their neighbors and contemporaries tend to head into. There's an emotive presentation that's rarely heard in today's ocean of music.
The group will be releasing their
SUPERPRESENT EP on October 2, 2013.
