Harrison Brome is a 19-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter whose sound has already firmly placed him in the club of talented young producers emerging from bedrooms everywhere.
"Pools" is his third offering in as many months, and it washes over you like wave upon wave of emotion. Water metaphors permeate the entire song, from the content of the lyrics, the formation and rhythm in his vocal melodies, the swell and swirl of the synths, and the atmopsheric background vocals reminiscent of whale calls.
Harrison displays an impressive vocal range, effortlessly sliding from warm lows into soaring falsetto. His breathy vocals paired with clean beats and hazy production result in this pleasingly downtempo track quickly becoming a firm favorite of mine.
It seems as though the "electro-soul" genre is drawing a lot of artists into its warm embrace, and with offerings like this, who's complaining?
Be sure to check out his muggy, bluesy debut track “Fill Your Brains."
