Why do we like this?
Initially recorded back in early 2012, "Work With" is a collaboration between two Melbourne talents. Harmless is a mysterious production duo that has been working together since 2011, while Clever Austin is producer/drummer/wunderkind from the all-conquering hip-hop band Hiatus Kaiyote.
The instrumental, beat-heavy track was dreamed up in the old Blank Tape Studio in Northcote, Melbourne (where Hiatus Kaiyote recorded their album) -- a make-shift, creative space that connects to a house where a number of prominent musicians dwell. I don't know about you, but anything that sounds like J Dilla, Madlib and Flying Lotus is cause for celebration, and I've been celebrating this one over and over all afternoon.
"Work With" has been released to announce a re-launch of sorts for the Harmless project, with the duo in the process of recording new material for release next year. Clever Austin's prior work (beat mixtapes) can be found over on his Bandcamp.
