UK-based producer Haich has released Unbalanced, his first EP to come out after his debut single, "Stone." The new record is a brilliant genre-defying amalgam of dream pop, sound collages, neo-soul, and instrumental hip-hop.
I'm going to recommend you start with "Hypocrite," the fourth track on the release. Thick bass slithers under sweetly layered vocals, sometimes channeling the falsetto magic of Moses Sumney. But the shifting drum tracks and bubbling synth make for something new.
Halfway through and your eardrums begin pulsating. Vocals skate ephemerally over an electronic heartbeat that crowds the room. Looping samples of a thick Jamaican male dialect dance and throb with us. It's a melodically somber dream state.
But don't just get up and leave me here. The whole thing's only 6 songs long. Stay a while!
