Why do we like this?

It's hard to believe it's been seven years since GZA released any solo material. Sure, he's featured on plenty of tracks by other artists and can be heard on the latest Wu-Tang album, but "The Mexican" marks his titular return to the music world as a solo artist, and what a return!

A re-working of Babe Ruth's 1972 single of the same name, "The Mexican" finds GZA dropping lyrical bombs over Mexican-style guitars and driving percussion.

Produced by the man himself and arranged by Jose "Choco" Reynoso, "The Mexican" also includes collaborations from Tom Morello (whose trademark guitar playing is easily picked), Hanni El Khatib and Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Ruban Nielson.

Welcome back GZA, it's been far too long.
